    Hi John
On question 5, I’ve looked at the User Record, and I can’t see where/how you grant Lightning User Permission to a user. Please help, thanks

I think the answer may be a bit confusing. I see a check box for “Salesforce Classic User”, which I assume should be unchecked if you want to make Lightening the default.

Hi John, question 5 should also have 4 as one of the options to be ticked. Since when lightening experience is enabled, users still can switch between lightening and classic. That’s how i understood it.

    Hi John,
For the second question I’m a little confused. Did you mean that the Leads tab is not included in the Call Center application? Or am I missing something? If Bill has one assigned app (Call Center) an the Lead tab is already included (as you stated), why would he need to customize his tab? Thanks for clarification! These quizzes are really useful.

    • JohnCoppedge November 23, 2015 at 5:57 pm #

If the tab is Default Off and included in the application, then it would not be listed along the top of the screen by default (but the user could customize their list of tabs to include it).

    Hello John:

No needs for hint anymore; could not bear the suspense 🙁 As expected, I got the first answer wrong 🙁 I think it was difficult for me to fathom what it means to pass the account number as a variable. Some practice examples (samples) on similar lines would be very helpful 🙁

    • JohnCoppedge November 9, 2015 at 2:40 pm #

We do something similar earlier in the guide when we create the Google finance link passes through the ticker symbol 🙂

      • Munira Majmundar November 9, 2015 at 2:55 pm #

Will check! The more I use the site, the more nuggets I find… Thanks so much!

While we are at it, could you please help me with the following question?
        Question:
Sharing rules grant additional record access to defined groups of users on a record by record basis.

        True
        False

Is the answer True or False?

IMHO, wordings of the question create a fork on the road:
Access to defined group of users would point to –
Sharing Rule (so, the answer to the aforementioned question would be TRUE)

        However
Record by Record basis would point to –
Manual Sharing (so, the answer to the aforementioned question would be FALSE)

As always, Thanks for your help!

        • JohnCoppedge November 9, 2015 at 3:02 pm #

Good analysis – I think the answer would be false but I’m not 100% sure. I think the question is getting at manual sharing.

    Hello John:

I am stumped 🙁 Spent hours trying to figure out answer for the first question in quiz 🙁 I am just not getting it 🙁 It was about a User that is trying to search Account.ID … from billing system etc.

From the responses on this page, it seems like no one else had issue with this problem 🙁

I don’t want to peek at the answer, if possible.

Is there a way you can give me a hint or a clue?

    Thanks!

    Hi John,

I’m having difficulty understanding why the solution to question / scenario #4 includes only one page layout. If one team would like a field hidden while another does not then does that not automatically require two separate page layouts? My reasoning is below. Please tell me where I am wrong.

    1. The marketing team should not be able to view / report on the field so it is set to not visible in field level security of the marketing profile thus rendering this profile useless for the sales team. Therefore, we have to create a new page layout and profile for the Sales team where we can designate the field as read only.

    Scenario 4:
The sales team should be able to read the custom field Account Tier on accounts, while the marketing team should not be able to view or report on this field. Both teams would like the information on the account page displayed in the same fashion. How should this be configured?

    • JohnCoppedge October 22, 2015 at 3:52 am #

You can use field level security to determine if a user can view the field – if they can’t view the field it won’t show up even if it is listed on their associated layout. In short, no you don’t automatically need two layouts, although I can understand how that could be counter-intuitive.

  7. Andrew DeSanctis September 11, 2015 at 2:21 am #

    Question 3:

Can you assign page layouts to groups / teams? Your solution has them being assigned to profiles, but if those teams are segmented, then you run the risk of having org wide access to those layouts for that profile, correct?

    • JohnCoppedge September 14, 2015 at 5:26 am #

Page layouts are assigned via profile and record type. You can assign record types via permission sets – but page layout assigned is profile-based. If you needed to further designate, you might consider:

      a) using a shared layout with field level security to remove inappropriate fields (use profile to set the base and then add field access to sub-groups with permission sets)

      b) record types where page layouts vary

      Good Q!

    Hi John,

Is the answer to question #4 correct? There is no Hidden option in Field Level Security, only Visible and Read Only…

    • JohnCoppedge July 27, 2015 at 1:57 pm #

Yes it is – it depends on which view you use to view FLS (field level security). “Hidden” refers to ‘Visible’ and “Read-Only” not being checked.

@John – Nice quiz ! I think I’ve mentioned earlier; but in a different way – could you give us some access to a question bank for testing our knowledge?

    • JohnCoppedge November 16, 2014 at 9:48 pm #

I do plan to extend final exam but will probably not focus on building a question bank. I really feel strongly that practice questions serve as a crutch – too often the focus is on if you can pass based on practice questions, rather than if you really understand the material. That said I do plan to extend questions in several sections as well.

Question one incorrectly changed my answer as I selected “Add the account number to the search filters under the account search layouts in Salesforce.” It was the only feasible action to take.

    • JohnCoppedge October 19, 2014 at 2:53 am #

Could this be a browser issue? I haven’t seen/heard similar reports. I would suggest using Chrome

  12. gera;d dente October 16, 2014 at 3:56 pm #

can you confirm that the answer to question #3 is Configure two different page layouts and instruct users to select the appropriate layout.

Users cant select their page layout. Only if you had a record type associated with each page layout then could they choose how the page displayed. If record types are not in use, having two different profiles and giving each profile a different page layout would be the easiest option. My answer was :”Configure and assign two different page layouts: one for marketing and one for sales.” and it said I am incorrect.

    • JohnCoppedge October 19, 2014 at 2:52 am #

Configure and assign two different page layouts: one for marketing and one for sales is correct- I just tested this and it listed this as the correct answer. Are you still seeing this?

  13. Tom Myers September 25, 2014 at 8:27 pm #

    Hi John,
I just retook the quiz, and the results for he seconds time kept my wrong answer on # 4 from the first quiz. The other wrong answer was changed to the answer on the second quiz. It doesn’t affect my studying, just thought you would want to know.

  14. Berglind Heath-Smith September 10, 2014 at 8:26 am #

Hi John – Hope you’re having a good day! I’m slightly confused – do questions 3 & 4 follow on from each other, or are they separate scenarios? My confusion being that if they do follow on then at q4 we have 2 page layouts already so all that remains to do is to ensure that marketing cannot report on the tier field. Am I right in that case?
As your answer indicates the need for only a single page layout, then perhaps it would be less confusing to use different team names in the second scenario?

    Thanks

I am unable to access the Quiz for User Interface.

I was doing fine in all the Quiz but now suddenly I cannot access it anymore.

    Do I have to pay?

    • JohnCoppedge February 2, 2014 at 9:59 pm #

      Hi Sumita,

This quiz does require a paid account. If you have at any time purchased the guide, you should be able to access this quiz. Cheers,

    John,

    on question 3, I noticed a small typo…
the phrase sales team is written sale team “while the sale team “.

    Hi John,

I just re-tested, seems to have been my mistake, it works as you described.

    Cheers.

    Hi,

I don’t think the answer to question two is correct.

I have just modified my profile so that I have access to an object and the tab is ‘default off’.
When viewing all tabs, I cannot see the one I have set to default off.
Only when I set it to hidden, I can see it when viewing all tabs and then can select it.

    Could you double-check please ?

    Thanks.

    • JohnCoppedge August 12, 2013 at 8:48 pm #

      Hi Michael,

The answer to question #2 is correct. I would suggest that you re-test hidden and default off tab settings.

Even while logged in as a system administrator, a hidden tab cannot be viewed.

      Cheers,

      John
