May be worth mentioning that Lightning does not have a “Business Hours” feature. I can do this workflow on the Classic site no problem. W17 for reference. Thanks.
Not sure what I did wrong, but when I go to user interface “Enable Improved Setup User Interface” is not checked and “Enable the Salesforce Classic 2010 User Interface Theme” is checked, but my setup sidebar still lists my domain under manage domains. Did I disable the wrong thing? Not a huge deal, but I am just curious if I missed something. Also, would differences like these be something tested, or like application differences in the different editions? I have been searching a bit, but there doesn’t seem to be great documentation about the differences between editions and layouts and things of this nature.
There is discussion of editions within this guide but not at a ton of depth- the primary differences are features which are spelled out in the marketing materials. Historically hasn’t been a large part of the exam.
Those settings are the same in my DE org as well I think you’re good
Can you explain the purpose of the field: Restricted Logins, Current Month?
Also want to check if the maximum number of restricted logins depends on the type of edition or something else?
Hi John, after I read the article you point out, I wonder what exactly is the value for: Restricted Logins, Current Month: Number of restricted login users who have logged in during the current month.
I presume is the number of logins have been during allowed restricted hours, but could you please confirm ?
Thanks
hi there, none of the videos seems to be working – I’m getting an error message from the youtube video for the “Configuring the Company Profile” and “Workshop: Get Started on the Certified Administrator Credential” videos. Is there a better way to access? thanks!!
Hey John, how exactly do you define different Holidays for separate teams? When added a holiday I didn’t see a specific area to define which team that holiday applies to. Thanks
I noticed a few minor slide mistakes:
– Fiscal Year: March was listed in Q2 (should be Q1) and April was listed in Q1 (should be Q2)
– Business Hours: Listings for 12 PM (noon) should actually be 12 AM (midnight)
I would have to guess that in this context they are asking about licensing for Salesforce itself rather than certifiedondemand.com. The video on this page shows licenses and talks about a hypothetical scenario where some new hires are coming on board but it doesn’t talk about how to purchase more licenses – or reduce licenses for that matter. Is that done here?
Hi john this question is about standard fiscal year
The start of standard fiscal year need to be the first month of the quarter or it can be any month means?
Thanks
In the video you stated that you would need to use custom fiscal year to define weeks in a quarter, I believe this is if you wanted each quarter to have 13 weeks.
If I wanted to have a fiscal year start on July 5th, can I do that through standard, or does standard only support the first date of the month?
Hi:
FYI: I have the improved user interface enabled which has the My Domain setting in Domain Management under Administer. You’re covering My Domain settings under Company Profile, which does not include the My Domain option
Question about business hours. If you have multiple sets of hours defined, I see that they can all be active but only one is the default. How does it work that all can be active at a time; meaning which one will SF look at when it is evaluating escalation and workflow rules, as well as login Windows for users?
Login hours are defined on the profile and not related to business hours- biz hours are used for case escalations. The default business hours is assigned to new cases unless otherwise stipulated
Hi john,
Can u pls provide short video or little bit knowledge , where and how you need to do language translation,
i saw some video yesterday in you tube, right now i m not able to fetch the same video.
but if you can , can you pls explain what manner r u talking abt language conversion for Slaesforce.
Thank you
Tejal.
Standard fields are automatically translated for languages that support full translation. For picklist values and custom fields, use the translation workbench to translate values from one language to another. Enable multiple languages in company set up to get started.
I Have created another time zone as Pacific time zone making 9-5 of Pacific time zone for the employees there, But i was not able to activate both? Am I doing the right thing?
Could you explain a little more about what end user and platform licenses do? Are platform languages only available for users with the platform license?
Platform license is essentially the same thing as a Force.com license – grants limited access to standard crm objects, but can be used to grant full access to custom applications. Platform licenses and platform languages are completely unrelated – language translation abilities are available regardless of the license type.
You probably have the new setup UI enabled – there is a step in getting started to turn it off, and it should look the same. Regardless of where the menu is the functionality is the same.
Hi – this video flashes off and on. Audio is fine. It’s migraine inducing 🙁 Just wanted to let you know!
Have you tried another computer? This is hosted on youtube and I havent had any other reported problems…
No issues for me with this.
Looks good. I’ll be interested to hear more about translated vs non-translated languages.
Hey guys, does anyone know under which tab or app the storage (data and file) are? I cant seem to locate them
thanks
Setup –> company profile is probably what you’re looking
It is under Setup -> Data Management -> Storage Usage
I mean in addition to what John suggested

Good note – I’ll look for a place to add that in.

Could someone else point out the March Q1 and Q2 typo to make another dummy comment?
Not sure- can you point me to the exact spot in the video and I will add an overlay?
Can you explain the purpose of the field: Restricted Logins, Current Month?
Also want to check if the maximum number of restricted logins depends on the type of edition or something else?
I think this is related to the monthly login portal and community user license types (but can’t seem to find an exact page to verify) https://help.salesforce.com/articleView?id=users_license_types_communities.htm&language=en_US&type=0
Hi John,
You have mentioned that holidays impact escalation rule, do they also impact time-triggers?
-amruta
Short answer: no 🙂
You can vote it up here: https://success.salesforce.com/ideaView?id=08730000000Bpq3AAC

Where are you seeing this? This could refer to licenses that are based on # of logins (which are used in communites and portals)

Hi – just checked both links and they appear to be working. What’s the error?
Hey John, how exactly do you define different Holidays for separate teams? When added a holiday I didn’t see a specific area to define which team that holiday applies to. Thanks
Click on the business hours (not edit), then click add/remove under holidays

How can we upgrade the licensing from 10 to 100 users, if required.
If you are talking about licensing for this site- please use the contact page.

Yep that makes sense – sorry get a lot of posts. Yes you can upgrade licenses using checkout (probably not in a DE org) or through your AE: https://success.salesforce.com/answers?id=90630000000gnGMAAY

Standard FY config is based on month (first day of the month) – I believe you’d need a custom FY to have an intra-month start

Yep – this site uses the classic admin ui

Standard fiscal year shows April then March
Great content BTW !
Thanks – when I do a video update I’ll get that fixed
I Have created another time zone as Pacific time zone making 9-5 of Pacific time zone for the employees there, But i was not able to activate both? Am I doing the right thing?
You should be able to have more than one business hours active (with different time zones), but only one default.
Could you explain a little more about what end user and platform licenses do? Are platform languages only available for users with the platform license?

API Requests is now API Usage, and is found on System Overview page.
Good point – it is actually listed in both locations.
on my Salesforce14 version: Domain is moved to
setup>>admin>>Domain Management

Should read 12AM to 8AM as non operating hours. Your visual has 12PM to 8AM. Threw me a little.
Good catch thanks will update if I redo the vid!
(but be sure to watch in full screen mode, or else you get the fuzzy details)
video looks fine in HD for me, I can see the details pretty well
It may be due to a connection at my end but 20% of this video was “fuzzy” and you couldn’t see the detail on the screen.
Select HD in the YouTube setting on the bottom right.
Just a note on your slide for Fiscal Year you have Apr in Q1 and Mar in Q2.
Oh yeah I just noticed that too 🙂 http://screencast.com/t/J6JKkXj6
I think there slide mistake march in Q1 and Apr in Q2
