Opportunity Competitors

You can add the competitors related list to the opportunity.  Customization is extremely limited, and the competitor information must be entered for each opportunity.

In the above explanation you state “and the competitor information must be entered for each opportunity.” , does this mean that if you do not have competitor info you would not be able to save the Opportunity Record i.e. Competitor Info is “Required”?

I believe what John means is that there is not the ability to pre-define a list of competitors, and have a lookup to add them to each opportunity. Rather, when creating an opportunity you need to create the competitor’s details from scratch each time.

        Precisely, thanks Scott

          Hello John,
I think the above option of pre-defining the competitors is available now in Classic. We can define a list of competitors in the setup by defining a picklist of values and we can lookup these values while creating a competitor Name on the opportunity record.

Correct me, if I am wrong.

          Regards,
          Gautam.

Sorry I should add- yes you can define the competitors in the related list. However, you will have to add each competitor manually to each opportunity created.

The admin defines the standard list of competitors.

No – that it is not captured on the account. Therefore for each opportunity you create, you will need to key in the competitor info (it is not copied or replicated whatsoever).
