Hi John ,
What is the correct answer for:
What can be customized on the home page:
1.Messages and Alerts
2.Dashboard components
3.Analytical snapshot
4.Pending approval items
I guess its 1 & 4 not sure about Dashboard components.
Is there any difference between Dashboard components /Dashboard snapshot
Components that can be configured are:STANDARD COMP- Create new,Recent items, messages and alerts, custom links, dashboard snapshot, items to approve, calendar, tasks. CUSTOM COMP:Admin links,Images,HTML area, Visual force area. There are no other components that are allowed to configure . Am i right.?
If I need to change the home page layout for a profile, shouldn’t that option be available at profile page? I see if ONLY at Home/Home Page Layout Assignment.
I have taken the exam and I had couple questions and I am not sure if I got them right. Could you help me to find the answers please?

What is the difference between dashboard component and analytical snapshot?
Hi John,
In addition to Kat’s question – what does this question mean by “customize”? Does it mean the same as edit? The sys admin can edit the message and alert and links component but cannot edit the dashboard. However user can personalize their layout by adding and removing certain elements from being viewed as well as customize the dashboard components. Or am I overthinking things…?
I don’t think you’re overthinking it – I was thinking along the same lines… or maybe we both are 🙂
Without understanding the exact wording of the question it would be hard to answer, but you can configure messages. The user will see the top line from the dashboard if you add the component but there’s not much to configure. Items to approve can’t be configured either.
Take a look at the home page options and layouts, that will help in determining which components can be configured.
Analytic snapshots are used to create historical data for exporting purposes – you could reference that data in a report (and dashboard component), but ultimately the snapshot is not referenced directly.
Dear John,
In the Side Bar I have been able to Add Recent Tags also as a Component as I have activated the personal tags in addition to Create Items & Recent Items

Yeah – the question isn’t clear. 1&4, maybe 2, your thinking is right… dashboard has limited config for home page
A dashboard snapshot is a clipping of the top row of a dashboard’s components.
I think it should be only choice 1.
Check out Setup -> Customize -> Home -> Home Page Components
You can customize only two components – ‘Custom Links’ and ‘Messages & Alerts’
Since custom links is not in the choice list, only op1 qualifies.
do we need to access any other release documents for the exam?
What percent of the test is this?
You will need to know these components for the exam- they are built on throughout salesforce
If I need to change the home page layout for a profile, shouldn’t that option be available at profile page? I see if ONLY at Home/Home Page Layout Assignment.
Thanks
