Language settings just allows you to add any laguages you need whereas the actual user langauge is changed in user setup?

I have added my user profile as a translator and added German as the language to translate. Two questions:
1.) Where do I find the “view setup and configuration” permission (cannot find this anywhere) ?
2.) Under translate setup it is showing that I have no data for available for this view? What does this mean?

1- profile or permission set (if you’re a system admin you will have it)
2-you can only translate custom components (e.g. custom fields) – without seeing what you are looking at it might mean that you have selected something that doesn’t have any translatable components. Try an object with custom fields/picklists?

Quick question on currencies, would multiple currencies enable converting a quote from what the opportunity was assigned as to another currency?
I would have to test that out to see if it worked correctly – in theory, it should be possible… the opportunity and quote are both different records. Each record has its own currency setting which then the line items would inherit. The tricky piece would be the mechanism that syncs the information between the two…

In my developer Org, I changed the Default Language in Locale settings under company information, but the standard fields/objects are not translated.
Changed the language field on the user record as well.
Also, manually I enabled end-user language and then through Translation workbench I created for custom fields(picklists) but these changes are also not reflected.
Can you tell if I need to any additional settings?

If you change the language for a fully translated language then your standard fields should automatically update. E.g. set the user language (not locale) to French. I would start there – it sounds like this isn’t working… just to verify that you are logged in as the user that you changed the language for (e.g. yourself)?
Hi John – I am confused. When I made Hebrew one of the displayed languages the Help and Setup menus were translated, but the top of the language settings says:
Enable end-user languages – Help and Setup are not translated in end-user languages
Hungarian, Polish, Czech, Turkish, Indonesian, Romanian, Vietnamese, Ukrainian, Hebrew, Greek, Bulgarian, English (UK), Arabic, Slovak, Portuguese (European), Croatian, Slovene
This mentions Hebrew.
Just tried this myself and noticed the same thing. This be that the language is not fully translated? (e.g. some terms are still in english)
Have never seen Salesforce with a right-to-left language before, that was cool. I suspect that the help pages may not be translated as well (wasn’t able to find where the menu was, as I don’t read Hebrew)
The “putting it all together” slide (as a graphic reference) would be a great addition to this page.

I am wondering how to handle a global company with the following scenario:
Corp hqts located in San Francisco
Offices in multiple other countries and time zones
When setting business hours (as a base level of security) does the admin need to set up separate divisions and a separate profile for each?

You would only need to define login hours for separate profiles if you wanted to limit when those users could log in- if you want to prevent login outside of working hours at each location then you would need a separate profile for each time zone.
What would be the point of using dated conversion rates over just a fixed rate? Just for more accurate reporting when the time comes?
Right. Imagine your cost is in usd but the customer purchased in eur- the conversion rate would have to be accurate to get a correct forecast

The Marketing team at UC wants to send an email to each lead received from its website.the country of incoming lead should determine the language of the email that will be sent to the lead.how can a system Admin automate this process?
a)create an email template for each language and an assignment rule to send the appropriate template
b)create a single email template and use translation workbench to translate and send the appropriate template
A, don’t believe translation workbench can be used to translate templates

I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who finds this Video very very fast (I’m French). Don’t forget that there are people not very fluent with the language you speak 😉 I’d have appreciated finding a video across sreens showing the configuration of all this (maybe this is already present in other next topics of your blog…). Anyhow, many thanks for all the very interesting and globally well made content we find on your Blog.
I recorded most of these videos before I had much training experience- if/when I do a re-record I will definitely pace a bit slower 🙂

Yes you can switch between them by editing the user’s details

Very very fast. Suggest slowing it way down as I had to listen to whole thing 3 times and pause it to let it sink in. Just a suggestion!
I’d agree – a bit on the quick side – could slow down by a third please, leaving a pause for breath perhaps between slides 😉
On YouTube if you click the gear gizmo (settings), you can usually adjust the speed of the video to be faster (e.g 1.25x faster, 1.5x faster or 2x faster) or slower (0.5x speed or 0.25x speed). Hope that helps!!
