The topic, “company profile” is not difficult to understand, however I had some issues with setting up “company profile” on my Salesforce app.
    Solution:
I found out that Salesforce is not compatible with Google Chrome( minimal functionality) but works well with Internet Explorer.

    • JohnCoppedge September 16, 2017 at 8:13 am #

Salesforce is definitely compatible with Chrome – what issues are you seeing?

      • Olaniya September 17, 2017 at 10:34 pm #

In setup mode using google chrome, none of the settings under ‘Company settings’ was displayed on the view window after being selected. For example, no information was displaced in the company information page and I could not make any changes to the organization profile.
The reverse happens when I used Microsoft edge.

      Navigate to
Setup-> Administrative Setup-> Company Profile -> Business Hours
      Click on “New Business Hours”

Where do you find the notes for this in the Company Profile section? The only relevant thing I found was the definition for an org id is that it is a unique number

    • Afoss March 5, 2017 at 8:35 pm #

For question 1.) Bob is a Salesforce system administrator. He creates a sandbox to test a feature that will require activation. Bob submits a case to Salesforce support from the production environment. Support requests the org ID of the environment that Bob would like the feature activated within. Bob can provide support the production org ID, as the sandbox and production org IDs will match.

      • JohnCoppedge March 13, 2017 at 2:39 pm #

The org ID in that section is what this is referring to – if you were to create a sandbox (which is not possible with a developer edition account) you would see that your sandbox would have a different ID listed

Only in the case where the sandbox created is a developer sandbox.
Only in the case where the sandbox created is a full sandbox.
Yes, the production org ID will always match the org ID of its sandboxes.
No, the production org ID will never match the org ID of any of its sandboxes.
    Incorrect
The Org ID is unique for all Salesforce environments including production and sandbox orgs.
the ans is only in the case where the sandbox created is a full sandbox.

    • JohnCoppedge October 27, 2016 at 7:12 am #

The org id of a full sandbox will not match the org id of its production environment.

The records created within the org prior to clone will (e.g. accounts, contacts, etc.) but the org id itself will be different.

  5. KarynReynolds October 25, 2016 at 11:54 pm #

Q1. My interpretation of the question was what OrgID should Bob provide as the Org he wants feature “activated” into. I assumed he was requesting support for “activation” into Production…after having built and “tested” in Sandbox.

Good question/exercise to explain OrgIDs are all unique…but is this type of scenario confusion typical on the exam? I realize this topic is only 1%

    • JohnCoppedge October 26, 2016 at 11:55 am #

Short answer: yes. You will need to read the actual exam questions very carefully, as wording will often play a very strong role in the way the question is asked.

  6. fredrik.schenatz@eins.se July 5, 2016 at 11:57 am #

Sandbox questions are not mentioned in the chapter!

    Hi John:

Any idea if Salesforce would offer default Holidays based on locale like language and currency?
That would be a nice feature. Imagine That an US based company has a lead in Brazil and 2 sales people are working on it. One is US based and the other is Brazil based, so both have different business hours and holidays. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    • JohnCoppedge May 23, 2016 at 1:05 pm #

To my knowledge that’s not likely to be offered- many companies (in the US anyway) follow different holiday schedules as well. Good thought though!

      • CarlosSiqueira May 23, 2016 at 1:17 pm #

Thanks. I have done a lot of pre sales support in Latin America and some in the EMEA and that would be a nice feature.

  8. MKlobe May 17, 2016 at 2:34 am #

Interesting you put the data/file question in this section, but mentioned it in the previous section:)

  9. hayirina May 14, 2016 at 8:45 pm #

I am confuse too, looks like both answers are correct:
The Org ID is unique for all Salesforce environments including production and sandbox orgs.
No, the production org ID will never match the org ID of any of its sandboxes.

  10. RLM18 April 19, 2016 at 4:44 am #

    I’m confused by question 1.
It showing the correct answer as: “No, the production org ID will never match the org ID of any of its sandboxes.”
The result of my incorrect selection states:
    “Incorrect
The Org ID is unique for all Salesforce environments including production and sandbox orgs.”

But the The Key Facts section of Company Profile for Salesforce Org id states:
“The Salesforce Org ID is unique to every Salesforce Org (regardless of edition, sandbox or production)”

This means to me that the sandbox and production would be the same? Is there a nuance in the wording I’m missing?

    • JohnCoppedge May 19, 2016 at 4:01 pm #

“No, the production org ID will never match the org ID of any of its sandboxes”

is the correct answer and is marked as such on the quiz.

Correct- the org id of a production org and sandbox would not be the same.

Hi John; can you clarify something on question 2. I agree with the answer, however am confused on the impact of Fiscal Years on Opportunity reporting as there is a note in the referenced SF training documentation as follows: “Your organization will not be able to use fiscal period columns in opportunity, opportunity with product, or opportunity with schedule reports.” So would IPI be able to report on their opportunity pipeline segmented by fiscal quarter? Thanks!

    • JohnCoppedge September 25, 2015 at 1:04 pm #

Good catch – with custom fiscal quarters enabled, it would be tough to segment the report. I’ll update the wording.

  12. Pixsy June 23, 2015 at 2:00 am #

Hi There.. firstly would like to say that this site is a god send for a Salesforce Newbie like myself.. Far easier to navigate than Salesforce Partner Training pages. I was just wondering if there was any input on Sandboxes on this section, as if there was I missed it and that question completely threw me. Thanks again 🙂

    • JohnCoppedge June 23, 2015 at 3:30 pm #

There is a line item in the objectives to note the significance of the org id – sandboxes are covered but not specifically in this section.

Can this site be used for spring/summer 2015 exams?

    Regards,

Yes. It was last updated for Winter 15 and will be updated shortly for Spring 15.

  15. Cloud Force March 16, 2015 at 11:02 am #

    Hi John,

We have created business hours name and assigned holidays to that. However, there is no member assigned to that and who will be responsible for the escalation if any?

    Thanks

    • JohnCoppedge March 18, 2015 at 10:01 pm #

Business hours alone do not determine escalation – just when the timer for escalation counts. The service cloud section will discuss escalation in more detail… I would recommend reviewing that material and seeing if it answers any outstanding questions. Feel free to post there as well! Cheers,

      John

  16. Cloud Force March 7, 2015 at 1:44 pm #

    Hi John,
I am not sure if the below sentence is correct or not . Please clarify.
In the quiz it is mentioned as – A recurring holiday must be added for each holiday and associated to the appropriate business hours.
Is recurring holiday not associated with the team (Business hour team name)?

    Thanks.

    • JohnCoppedge March 12, 2015 at 11:15 pm #

I think we are saying the same thing? Each holiday is associated to the business hours record, which is then referenced in case escalation… does that make sense?

  17. Dan S February 26, 2015 at 3:41 am #

I must have missed something in the tutorial. Where did you cover Sandbox ID’s?

    • Dan S February 27, 2015 at 3:15 am #

Looks like the sandbox question should be in the next section’s quizzes.

  18. Crystal O'Mara February 17, 2015 at 5:49 am #

    Hi Jon,

The quiz says I got question 3 wrong when I answered it correctly.

    • JohnCoppedge February 17, 2015 at 2:01 pm #

Just checked the Q, seems to work. There were two correct answers- you needed to have only those 2 selected.

  19. Kevin Parsakia January 30, 2015 at 7:20 pm #

Good to know about the org ID being different in any sandbox and live environment. I can see that being a trick question for sure.

  20. kapil mishra November 17, 2014 at 8:34 pm #

hey john as per question two ids can be same if it is full sandbox license then else different?

    • JohnCoppedge November 17, 2014 at 8:55 pm #

The ID of the records copied from production to sandbox will be the same for a full sandbox, however, the org id will be different between the production and sandbox environment.

    Hey John,

How big are the differences between the SFDC updates in relation to the exams? Is it minicular enough to not worry about writing after the new years?

    • JohnCoppedge November 5, 2014 at 7:44 pm #

Not sure I understand the question? The questions on this site should be similar to those on the exam

  22. ujjwal jain September 8, 2014 at 4:43 am #

    Hi John,

Giving my exams in November, 2014. Can i use this site to prepare?

  23. Sinandra Kaplan August 2, 2014 at 9:56 pm #

Can I use this site to prepare for Summer 2014 exam?

    Thanks

    • JohnCoppedge September 17, 2014 at 7:12 pm #

Yes – if the release info is not updated, there will be links to the release materials from SFDC at the end of the guide. In short, the guide will ensure that you have coverage up to the latest release.

  24. Emily Margo July 4, 2014 at 3:11 am #

    Hi John,

In question 3 above, is it the case that both the answers below are technically correct but we should be selecting the first one because it is performed prior to the second (below)?

“Business hours must be configured to define the working hours Mon-Sun, 8a-8p.
Salesforce automatically adds holidays, simply select all that apply.”

“A recurring holiday must be added for each holiday and associated to the appropriate business hours.”

    Thanks,
    Emily

    • JohnCoppedge September 17, 2014 at 7:13 pm #

Salesforce does not automatically add the holidays – the administrator manually specifies the holidays. Hope that clarifies 🙂

  25. Richa Sharma June 4, 2014 at 8:01 pm #

I am planning to take ADM-201 in July 2014. Is this guide updated with Spring 2014 release?

  26. Sherry Larsen-Holmes May 22, 2014 at 8:03 pm #

Do some organizations have more than one environment and therefore several unique Org IDs? Other than a “production environment” or “sandbox environment”, are there others?

    • JohnCoppedge June 10, 2014 at 9:20 pm #

Yes many enterprise customers have several production orgs; it is not uncommon for large enterprise customers to have dozens – each with many sandboxes each.

  27. Ron Koppelmann March 2, 2014 at 8:51 pm #

    Another nit
Salesforce automatically add holidays, simply select all that apply.

    Should be
Salesforce automatically adds holidays, simply select all that apply.

      Hi Kormal,

Yes this site content has been updated for the Winter 14 release! Cheers,

  30. David Arnold January 28, 2014 at 3:19 pm #

Where would one find the various other (sandbox) IDs? Im not sure why they shouldnt match, other than to differentiate between the two…especially in the cloud.

    • JohnCoppedge January 28, 2014 at 6:32 pm #

      Hi David,

I have always gotten the sandbox ID by logging into the sandbox and going to the company information page.

The org ID must be unique for every org – this is the ID that uniquely describes the org. If you were to submit a feature request to Salesforce, you wouldn’t want two different orgs to have the same ID; there would be no easy way to differentiate between the two.

      Cheers,

      John

  31. Sandrine December 4, 2013 at 2:14 am #

    Hi John,
I am currently looking at the solution from the Quiz from Company Profile topics. I am afraid that I disagree with the answer from Question 1. Full sandboxes have the same ID as the Production environment.
Could you please clarified as I am confused?
    Cheers,
    Sandrine

    • JohnCoppedge December 5, 2013 at 2:20 am #

The actual ORG ID will always be different. You are correct that when you create a full sandbox, the record IDs that are copied over will be the same. Make sense?

  32. Regan C October 8, 2013 at 8:19 pm #

They mean that when the correct and incorrect answers are highlighted the text is very hard to read because it’s gray – it would help if the text was black when showing the correct and or incorrect answers.

  33. Narender September 27, 2013 at 9:38 pm #

The text must be solid Black because when its shaded with color, we are not able to see the text properly.
