    Hi John,

In the video, you mention that user IDs must be unique across all Salesforce Orgs. Does this mean I need to have multiple emails set up for my production org, development org and sandbox org? Or can I slightly alter the username and keep the email the same for all orgs? I’m a bit confused…

    Thanks,
    Jessica

You can keep the email the same but the username should be different between production and sandbox environments

    Hi John,

When we purchase a user license, e.g. I bought professional, would i get a featured license free as well. If yes then why? If no then why not , as you said in above comments, Fetaure lic. is add on.

BTW. I love this website. Hats off to u.

    Thanks
    Sid

Good q. So licensing is a bit tricky. Some licenses are included (e.g. if you buy enterprise, you get the marketing user feature license) and some are not (e.g. if you buy enterprise, you don’t automatically get the service cloud feature license). So it depends on the license purchased and the edition, not a simple answer unfortunately.

        Hi John

in the same subject, can we say that when we have bought let’s say 10 service cloud licences that means that we have 10 service cloud user feature licenses ?

In our contrat we bought 30 service cloud licences and 100 sales cloud licences but in the org we have 130 service cloud feature licences. So i don’t know what to think! ?

        Thnaks!

Uh… I think you got 100 free service cloud licenses 🙂

ah that is what i thought in the beginning but i said it’s too good to be true 😉

            Hi John

i’am back with my question about the service cloud licence. I’ve seen that we have a Service cloud Lincense in our org so i’am a bit confused about the pupose of this licence because i thought that a service cloud licences mean having a Salesforce Licence + Service cloud user feature license. Do you have any idea what is the purpose of the Service Cloud license ?

            Thanks

Generally speaking, you can get to cases and other basic service info without the permission set but I believe you need it when getting into milestones, entitlements, and extensions beyond basic case management (console, live agent chat, integrated phone dialer, etc. may need this or additional licenses as well).

    Hi John
In my free salesforce Org as an admin if i select the service cloud user in the user set up , still when i login with this user I am not able to see the sample console in the application drop down. I am not sure if I am missing any setting.

    Hi John,
I am able to create user with same username on 2 different orgs. One user is created on Developer Org, and the other is created on sandbox org.
But the video states that we cannot have same username on different orgs too.

Please can you confirm it once again.

    Thanks.

I’m pretty sure since the Sandbox Org is not really “Live” it will allow you to create any user name you want. I could be wrong, but it’s got to have something to do with the fact that you are doing the same name in Sandbox.

      • JohnCoppedge April 29, 2016 at 1:04 am #

Yes you can now have the same username in a sandbox and production – will update materials that say otherwise. That is a recent development though and was not possible in the past.

Salesforce for Outlook is an add on. Would a feature license be required for a user to be able to use it?

    • JohnCoppedge November 9, 2015 at 3:50 pm #

I don’t believe there is a separate license for Salesforce for Outlook- but it does require a Salesforce license type (rather than platform etc.): https://help.salesforce.com/apex/HTViewSolution?id=000213836&language=en_US

This link is not working, unfortunately, and I see the question is almost a year old but in case someone else will have a similar question… Salesforce for Outlook is a free add-on but you will be required to login to set it up in Outlook so you need to have an active user to do so.

    Did not get it –
    1. User License VS Features License.
    2. Is there a price difference – License vs Feature for the same edition?

    • JohnCoppedge October 14, 2015 at 11:23 am #

      User license = Edition
      Feature license = Addon

E.g. User license = Professional Edition
Feature license = Marketing User (granting access to campaigns)

        hi

are you sure that Professional Edition is a kind of User license ?

I think Salesfoce, salesforces plateforme, force.com, community,… are types of User license
        Thanks
